Learning martial art to discipline you is an enticing idea. Of course, everyone wishes to be equipped with the necessary skills and confidence in thwarting off attackers. There are always Tae Kwon Do lessons, schools for Karate, Krav Maga and Jujistu, and training camps for Kung Fu. Unfortunately, many end up frustrated because they pursue a combat discipline for years and still find it ineffective in times needed most. It is a fact that many martial arts methods are not functional and applicable in the real world.

Here are great misconceptions about martial arts, as these systems are sports-oriented, and are taught to prepare students for tournaments and competitions. They have restrictions imposed, like in Wing Chun, Tae Kwon Do and other self-defense methods, which decreases the effectiveness of the art being functional in real life.

So, where does that leave you if you want to make self defense your art of survival? What combat discipline will work for you in the real world where your life could be threatened?

You will need a martial art with a solid concept on the real world and not attached to sports and tournaments, one with a discipline which is deadly in nature and has techniques to incapacitate the assailants and misfits who threaten you or your loved ones. More importantly, you should learn a martial art that is geared on scientific biomechanics that values your body's capacities and potential and uses the same as a source of power.

At this point, it's important that you know to be a motion martial artist, positioning you at a great advantage as you can easily detect your enemy's motion through sight and touch. In Krav Maga videos, you are taught that no matter what moves your opponent employ in their attack, you are prepared and skilled to protect yourself and enforce a crippling counter-attack. Krav Maga teaches you how to maximize your attacker's energy against them! This special trait in martial arts could be found only at Wing Chun Kung Fu alone, but this art form involves using weapons. In Krav Maga, combat is all your body, skills and strength.

Face it, survival in the real world can be yours, regardless of the countless crimes in your city or neighborhood poses. After all, even law enforcers exist to arrest those who commit crimes, not those who plan and act on harming others. Clearly, you should act on training yourself to protect yourself and your loved ones from being victims of unprovoked attacks, random acts of violence and other crimes.

So when thinking of ensuring your safety and learning a combat technique, go for Krav Maga or Wing Chun as these two are designed for real street fighting. There are available Wing Chun and Krav Maga videos where you could learn more about the arts, the basic and more advanced skills and how to execute them, and other related disciplines in these martial arts forms. Any man or woman, child or older person, or whether you're carrying extra weight or not any taller than your younger brother, you could get into Krav Maga - and be good at it!

Once you've elevated your skills, you will be more confident at living life with no fear. A skilled Krav Maga artist can not only defend himself, but also inflict a painful lesson and debilitating damage to your attacker. So learn and be proficient in this combat art and be among the ranks of this advanced self-defense system which is Krav Maga.
